Sandown carnival: A family-friendly event with colourful parades and entertainment

The Isle of Wight’s 2025 carnival summer bursts into life this month, and Sandown is the place to be when the season gets under way on Saturday 26th July.

The seaside town’s Children’s Carnival parade sets off from the Pier at 11am and the popular Main Carnival makes its way through the streets in the evening at 7pm.

To enter either of Sandown’s parades, you can register on the day, details can be found on the website.

Coueslant: There’s still time to put together an eye-catching creation
Paul Coueslant of Sandown Carnival says,

“We have new fancy dress entries every year, joining in the fun alongside the marching bands, colourful floats, spectacular costumes and all sorts of community entrants.

“So there’s still time to put together an eye-catching creation.”

Register to take part
Registration for Sandown Children’s Carnival takes place by the Pier entrance at 10.30am before the parade makes its way to Sandham Gardens for a day of entertainment.

For the Main Carnival, walking entrants register near the Sundial Cafe at Eastern Gardens from 5pm, and floats from the same time on Culver Parade between Fort Street and the Library roundabout.
