Freshwater Lifeboat - Santa on the bus and the snow pony

Santa makes a splash at Freshwater Independent Lifeboat event

Freshwater Independent Lifeboat was proud to once again welcome Santa to the Bay last weekend.

The weather, although chilly, was dry and we were able to welcome over 170 children – a record for us!

While the children enjoyed free gifts from Santa, the adults enjoyed mince pies and festive drinks from our host Isle of Wight Bars. Thanks also goes out to Wightwood Pizza for providing lunchtime meals for those that wanted one of their amazing pizzas.

Thanks to supporters
We would like to thank all our sponsors, and those who donated gifts for our treasure chests – valued at over £400. Congratulations go out to Rebecca Hare-Smith, Constance and partner Steve who won the first prize!

Adams: The looks on the children’s faces really made it all worthwhile
Rod Adams, principal fundraiser said,

“Saturday was our most successful grotto day ever with Santa chatting to 173 children in four hours and record donations received. The looks on the children’s faces really made it all worthwhile. This  really was one of the nicest ways to say thank you to the community for their continued support.

“It was great to see Leira the snow pony, so gentle and well behaved with our visitors on the day. A special thanks goes to all the volunteers that ensured to the event went smoothly.”
