Red Funnel say, “Please be advised that the Hi Speed service will resume for its last trip departing Soton at 23:45 & WC at 00:15”

Red Funnel say
Due to strong wind over tide the 22:30 ECSO car ferry departure is delayed by 45 mins. This is to allow time for conditions to improve.

The 22:30 car ferry departure out of Southampton is unaffected.

However the 23:50 SOEC car ferry sailing is likely to be delayed by a estimated 20 minutes.

Red Funnel say that due to adverse weather the Hi Speed service is suspended until further notice. The car ferry service remains unaffected.

Red Funnel say the wind is blowing 50knots in the Solent with the tide changing.

Flood warnings/alerts
Flood warning: Langbridge and Alverstone on the Eastern Yar
Levels in the Eastern Yar at Alverstone are very high. River levels will be higher than those experienced on Christmas eve. Roads and properties are expected to flood.

Flood alert: Eastern Yar
Water levels in the river will rise rapidly and surface water will flood roads (including Morton Common Road and Golf Links Rd), fields and access tracks throughout the Eastern Yar Valley. Residents living along the whole length of the river should be prepared for flooding.

Morton Common, Sandown – closed due to flooding
Alum Bay New Road – closed to heavy vehicles only
Cliff Path, Lake – closed to vehicles due to safety reasons
Cliff Path, Lake – closed to pedestrians from Winchester house car park to Skew Bridge path / Lake Cliff Gardens due to safety reasons
Cliff Path, Shanklin – closed to pedestrians between Delphi Road and St Boniface Cliff Road due to safety reasons
Hyde Road, Shanklin – closed due to a collapsed wall
Rew Lane, Ventnor – closed due to a poor surface
Pixley Hill, Freshwater – closed due to a poor surface

Weather update
The Met Office weather warning for rain has been extended to 12pm on Sunday.

Frequent heavy and squally showers, with hail and thunder at times, will affect southern and western parts of England and Wales through this weekend. Some more persistent spells of rain are likely at times too, especially on Saturday night and early on Sunday.

The public should be aware that further disruption due to flooding is likely.

This is an update to the warning to remove parts of the Midlands, whilst also extend the risk period through to the middle of Sunday.
