‘Save Westridge Farm’: Almost 70 per cent of Crowdfunder target reached

In just over a week, the Crowdfunding campaign to raise a target of £13,000 has busted past the half way point, with £8,850 pledged so far.

The campaign is being led by Deputy Mayor of Ryde and Ryde Town Council ward councillor for Appley and Elmfield, Jenna Sabine, and aims to ‘Save Westridge Farm‘.

A planning application for 473 homes on farmland in the outskirts of Ryde was recently approved by Isle of Wight planning committee.

A group of Campaigners are planning to legally challenge the decision-making process.

Aims of the Crowdfunder
The aim of the Crowdfunding campaign is to raise sufficient funds to do the following:

  • Enable ordinary working residents to have access to lawyers to match the lawyers of the developers and landowners.
  • A full legal case is developed and once consent is issue residents are able to have a legal team in place to apply for and go for Judicial Review.
  • Have sufficient funds to fully support the tenant farmer fight to defend their agricultural three generational tenancy and work towards the establishment of the preferred community choice of a community farm and green educational centre.

How to add your support
The £13,000 target must be reached by 3pm on 2nd October 2021.
