Save Westridge Farm: First level Crowdfunder reached, £55,000 stretch target for Judicial Review launched

The Crowdfunding campaign to ‘Save Westridge Farm’ has reached its first target of £13,000, with nine days still to go.

Save Westridge Farm campaign has been a long-running campaign. On 27th July 2021, the Isle of Wight council Planning Committee approved plans for West Acre Park, a development of 473 houses by Captiva Homes. It means the tenant farmers, The Hollidays, who have been farming the land for over 50 years, will lose their home and business.

New stretch target
Jenna Sabine, who set up the Crowdfunder, told News OnTheWight that they would be adding a stretch target of £55,000 to the Crowdfunder, the proceeds of which will go towards the Judicial Review and the aspirations for a community farm.

There have been 336 pledges so far to the Crowdfunder, raising £13,380.

Sabine: Sheer collective effort and impassioned generosity
On news of reaching the first target of £13,000, Jenna said,

“Through sheer collective effort and impassioned generosity, we have hit our target with 11 days remaining!

This is an incredible achievement. Thank you to all those who pledged, some multiple times.

“We will keep everyone updated as things progress but we can all relax knowing that further investigations are now possible, thanks to the good nature of our democracy.”

The Crowdfunder
The Crowdfunder closes at 3pm on 2nd October.
