Local schools and groups including Newport C of E Primary School, Gurnard County Primary & Shalfleet Primary Schools are celebrating after receiving this year’s Active Kids equipment.

In total, 93 schools, groups and clubs local to Sainsbury’s Isle of Wight are registered to the scheme, which has helped to donate £407,585 worth of equipment across Isle of Wight since the scheme began in 2005.

Active Kids Ambassador, Ellie Simmonds, said:

“The new equipment will really help kids in Isle of Wight lead healthier and more active lifestyles. Being able to inspire kids to cook healthy meals is extremely important.”

Headteacher Mr Seaward said:

“Customers at Sainsbury’s Isle of Wight have been really supportive this year and it’s great to be the top collecting organisation in our area. The scheme has helped us teach the benefits of a healthier more active lifestyle to hundreds of children over the last few years and we’re really looking forward to getting active with this year’s equipment.”
