Children on the schools walk

Schools Walk the Wight 2025 combines fun, fitness and fundraising

Mountbatten Isle of Wight’s Schools Walk the Wight 2025 is open for registrations from today (28th February, 2025).

The mission is to cover the equivalent of 22 miles over the next few months and then walk the final four miles of the main walk, on Sunday, 11th May.

Schools Walk the Wight is a brilliant way to have fun with your family and friends, while raising money for the Isle of Wight’s only hospice and its 24/7 services in homes across our community.

In 2024, pupils from Lanesend Primary School raised an incredible £2,591 in sponsorship, winning them the special trophy.

Who will raise the most this year? The trophy is up for grabs and this year’s Schools Walk is extra special because it will be part of the 35th anniversary of Mountbatten’s iconic Walk the Wight fundraising event.

Plus, complete your mission and an amazing medal, specially designed by an artistic young person – the winner of our 2025 Schools Walk medal competition – will be yours!

What do you need to do to take part in the Schools Walk?
Walk, scoot, skip or swim, the choice is yours! For every 30 minutes of activity a child completes, you can tick off one Walk the Wight mile. Your goal is to reach 22 miles by Sunday, 11 May.

Zoom on a scooter, bounce on a trampoline, dance in your living room or get on your bike! Every move counts.

The final four miles of your challenge is to join the Schools Walk on Sunday, 11 May and complete the final four miles, between Freshwater and Alum Bay.

Can’t make the big day? Don’t worry, you can still take part! Simply complete the final four miles in your own time.

“The atmosphere at Schools Walk the Wight is always incredible and we cannot wait to see so many amazing young people and their families on Tennyson Down, on 11th May.

“In the meantime, pedal, skip, leap or scoot the rest of the distance. The only thing we ask is you have fun doing it!

“In 2024, Schools Walk the Wight raised over £40,000, which was simply amazing. Help Mountbatten Isle of Wight raise even more in 2025!”
