Exploring collaboration
The call for submissions was issued for artists to submit an application with another artist or non-artist proposing to create a body of work that explores collaboration.

This has been interpreted in many ways – works with physical interaction with different mediums and some more subtle works that form a conversation when positioned in the gallery.

Wide range of mediums
Selected artists have used a wide range of mediums in which to present their work including print, photography, painting, mixed media, sculpture, paper as well as audio and film-based works. Artists have created work in a studio environment together and some by communicating via the Internet, demonstrating the diverse way in which people collaborate.

Applications were received mainly from Island-based artists but also from the north of England the West Country and London.

One winner
One artist and their collaborator will be chosen as the winner and their prize will be an exhibition in the Quay Arts Rope Store Gallery in late 2014 along with Quay Arts marketing, installation and curatorial support.

DUET opens on Saturday 7 December in The West Gallery with a preview from 3-5pm. Exhibition ends on Saturday 15 February 2014. Entry to the all galleries and exhibitions is free.
