Interactive artwork, experimental forms and neon colours in ‘Joined Up Thinking’ exhibition by Kathy Williams

Quay Arts are excited to announce a new interactive exhibition ‘Joined Up Thinking’ by Island Artist Kathy Williams. Using bright neon colours and experimental brushwork, Kathy will be creating an active installation within the gallery.

During the exhibition run the public are invited to re-arrange prepared panels of painted artworks and can have the chance to join in with making pieces of their own pieces.

About the Artist
Kathy Williams is a contemporary site, time, and place-specific artist who strives to liberate paint from the traditional canvas, physicalising and re-assembling artworks, which shift in response to their setting.

Kathy applies paint to transparent surfaces, so we only see the paint itself, flexed into a multitude of forms. She explores the materiality of her medium through this process, and through the rearrangement of her work, changes the audience’s perspective as well as her own.

Take part
With public participation being an important part of the exhibition, Kathy invites the public to re-arrange displayed artworks, take photos of their own perspectives, and to make their own mark during free painting drop-in sessions Saturdays 20th and 27th January, and Saturday 3rd and 10th of February between 12-1pm.

By constantly evolving and changing the exhibition throughout its duration, she hopes to create socially engaging responses.

Artist talk
Kathy will be holding an informal Artist Talk Saturday 20th January between 1-2pm, where she will talk about her practice and interactive installation in the Clayden Gallery.

This is a free event with no need to book, all are welcome.
