Sell Your Artwork At The Winter Gardens This Summer

Paintings on Railings in GlasgowLouis Lawrence has been exploring the idea of artists being able to display their work, down at the Winter Gardens this summer.

The great news is that the Winter Gardens Management Committee have agreed, creating the opportunity for artists to display their work, free of charge to sell, around the perimeter of the Winter Gardens terrace during the summer on Sundays between 10am and 1pm.

We think this is brilliant idea and take our hats off to Louis for organising it. This is a fabulous opportunity to sell your art directly to holiday-makers and visitors from other parts of the Island.

It all kicks off at the beginning of May (giving you time to knock up a few masterpieces) and runs through til the August Bank Holiday.

There are some conditions which you have to adhere to though:

  1. You must register with Louis Lawrence , to safeguard against traders with velvet pictures mainly and to ensure that only local artists get the benefit.
  2. No fixing to any walls, everything must be self standing ie; a panel with your stuff on, leaning against the wall or an easel.
  3. No tables.
  4. 6ft of space for everyone (2 metres), even if you are alive! So don’t be greedy.
  5. Common sense please, this is a freebie that mustn’t be abused.
  6. If you make a sale, you could kindly donate some percentage to the Winter Gardens funds.
  7. You exhibit at your own risk. The Winter Gardens management is not responsible for your safety, for the safety of your equipment and property, or for your conduct re the public.
  8. And if you are portrait sketcher you can have a special area just under the big sign for your work.
