Seven teenagers to face court over £200k damage to Grade II house

Seven teenagers are due in court to face charges of high value criminal damage in Shanklin.

Between 5th May and 5th June 2022, it’s alleged that significant damage – estimated to be in excess of £200,000 worth – was caused to the interior of a Grade II listed house in Rectory Road.

Following an investigation by the South Wight Neighbourhoods Policing Team, the following individuals, who cannot be named for legal reasons, have been issued a summons to appear at Isle of Wight Youth Court tomorrow (Wednesday 25th October) to face one count each of criminal damage:

  • A 14-year-old girl from Shanklin
  • Two 13-year-old boys from Shanklin
  • A 15-year-old boy from Newport
  • A 14-year-old girl from Godshill
  • A 16-year-old boy from Hythe, New Forest
  • A 14-year-old boy from Shanklin
