Shanklin man charged with kidnap and wounding with intent after returning to UK from overseas

A 56-year-old man from Shanklin was arrested and charged yesterday (30th September) under a European Arrest Warrant after returning to the UK from overseas.

The Shanklin man was charged with kidnap and wounding with intent in relation to an assault which took place between 11.30pm and midnight on Tuesday 22nd November 2016, on Newport Street in Ryde.

He was also charged with eight further offences relating to a drugs supply investigation. These are four counts of possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply, two counts of possession of a Class B drug with intent to supply, and two counts of possession of a Class C drug with intent to supply.

The man was remanded in custody to appear at Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court today (Friday 1st October).
