Shanklin murder investigation opened: Two women and a man arrested

Isle of Wight Police are investigating the death of a man in Shanklin on the Isle of Wight.

Police were called at 10.11pm on Monday 25th April to reports of an altercation at an address on St Johns Road.

They attended and located two men with serious injuries. A man in his 50s was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed.

Arrested on suspicion of murder
A 29-year-old woman, a 52-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man from the Isle of Wight have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Both women remain in custody, and the 36-year-old man is currently being treated in hospital for injuries sustained during this incident.

Officers remain at the scene and enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of this incident.

Pegler: An isolated and contained incident
Superintendent Jim Pegler said,

“I know that this incident will be a shock to the local community. I would like to reassure people that there are no wider risks to the public, and we believe this is an isolated and contained incident.

“Detective Chief Inspector Ross Toms has been appointed as the Senior Investigating Officer and he will lead a thorough investigation to establish what has happened, involving specialist officers from Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

“I would ask people not to speculate on the circumstances and the identities of those involved.
