Silver-winning Vectis Wombles praised for their work at Newport Litter Project

A Certificate of Appreciation was given to voluntary litter picking group Vectis Wombles at Newport and Carisbrooke Community Council’s (NCCC) monthly Full Council meeting at their new office, 64 High Street.

The group were also gifted with black and clear bin bags to be distributed amongst members as part of the Newport Litter Project where the group have been working in partnership with NCCC. 

Silver ‘Community Project of the Year’
Vectis Wombles have recently been carrying out litter picks in Newport litter hot spots including Island Harbour and Downside and recently won silver in the ‘Community Project of the Year’ category of the Isle of Wight Community Awards 2023 for their work across the island.

Chair Cllr Andrew Garratt said,

“We are extremely grateful to Vectis Wombles for their continuing efforts around the island, especially in Newport.”
