Skate Park Open Meeting Brings Unexpected Results

Skate Park Open Meeting Brings Unexpected ResultsThe recent open meeting arranged by Ventnor Community Projects, to provide a platform for local interested parties to voice their views on the Skate Park, attracted a delegation of twelve 13 to 16 year olds. Although the teenagers had no interest in skateboarding they put forward a very spirited argument for the provision of a five-aside pitch in the Town and that this should be considered for future funding.

This has been taken on board by Ventnor Community Projects who are looking into how this can be achieved. Chairman Rob Chuter is holding talks with Linda Gorman, manager of Ventnor Youth & Community Centre, as to how the community can help fund extra evening openings of the gym hall, particularly on a Friday when many youths only have the streets to meet in. Further approaches are being made to Ventnor Middle School for use of their facilities and Rue Valley Sports Centre. [image courtesy of Design Spotter]
