SkillSwap: It’s All About the Skills

Update: Sadly SkillSwap isn’t online anymore.

I’ve been meaning to write for some time about a fantastic new service that has been launched by Islanders. It’s called Skillswap and does just what it says on the label.

SKILLSWAPImagine that you want to learn a new skill, such as carpentry, plumbing or help with public speaking” but you can’t afford to pay for it. The idea of SkillSwap is that you offer a skill or talent in return. We all have something to tender, whether it’s trained or self taught.

The SkillSwap site offers a free exchange of skills and contact can be made securely through the site.

There are a number of skills on offer at the moment, such as web design, speech and drama or dinner party recipes to name a few.

And there are already a number of requests to learn such as the guy who wants to learn to make some changes to the 12v electrics of his campervan, another looking to increase his spin bowling skills and many others include accounting, guitar lessons, various software packages or programming languages.

In my view it’s a brilliant idea and with the long winter night approaching fast, why not sign up and share your skills with someone in return for something new.
