I have to say that it is nice to see somebody trying to keep alive the local dialect. I purposely didn’t say Isle of Wight Dialect because that would be strictly untrue as the majority of the local colloquialisms are shared with Hampshire of which we were a part until the 1970’s. How I agree with S.K. I’m afraid that “Mr Caulkhead” is falling into the trap of a little mummerset. The gentleman may have been born or grown up on the Island.I don’t know, but his accent is nothing like the one we oldies remember from our youth. Nice try, but please find a natural speaker!
