Dangerous state of building causes traffic diversion

Vehicular access along Cowes High Street will be restricted in a southbound direction tomorrow morning (Tuesday 12th May 2014) for approximately two weeks until Tuesday 27th May 2014 due to urgent works required to stabilise the site of The Three Crowns Pub in High Street, Cowes.

This is essential work to protect the safety of pedestrians and vehicles using Cowes High Street in the future. It follows a survey by IW Council’s building control surveyors that found the long-derelict building to be unsafe.

Scaffolding will restrict access
Scaffolding will be erected from 10am. This scaffolding and hoarding will physically restrict vehicles travelling southbound along the High Street from Market Hill to Fountain Quay.

A diversion route will be in place with the one-way being reversed in Sun Hill such that a temporary one-way gyratory system will be created with traffic travelling east bound on Sun Hill and southbound on the High Street.

Seek alternative routes
Site conditions are restrictive and therefore drivers of larger vehicles should seek to find alternative loading and unloading points.
