The company received the accolade in recognition of it attaining RoSPA’s Gold Award for excellent health and safety for each of the past 15 years.

John Corden, Southern Water’s Head of Health and Safety, said:

“The Order of Distinction is a fantastic endorsement of our continued focus on the safety and wellbeing of our staff and suppliers. Not only the people who improve and maintain our vast network of pipes and pumps, but also those who work in our many offices across the region.

“Southern Water has 368 wastewater treatment works, 90 water supply works, a network of almost 40,000km of sewers and almost 14,000km of water mains across the south – keeping that running while maintaining an excellent health and safety record is a fantastic achievement for all involved.”

David Rawlins, RoSPA’s awards manager, congratulated Southern Water on the win and said it had helped “raise the bar” for other companies to aspire to.
