Speed Safety Equipment Set on Fire

Speed Safety Equipment Set on FirePolice were called out to three seperate locations last night after damage was reported to road safety equipment.

A speed camera on Lake Hill (by the school) had apparently been damaged by fire, the speed safety advertising trailer that you’ll often see in the layby near Newclose Cricket Ground was also damaged by fire, as was a speed reactive sign in Brighstone (pic below).

It all happened between 1-2am last night.

Speed Safety Equipment Set on FireSounds very much like someone with a grudge against speed controls on the Island roads was feeling destructive last night.

Police are asking for anyone who may have seen anything suspicious to get in touch with Newport CID on 0845 045 45 45 or call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Thanks to Rapanui Rob for popping out of the office to shoot a pic of the Lake camera for us.

Thanks also to Wendy Varley for sending in the shot of brunet speed warning sign in Brighstone.
