Stained Glass Appeal: Public Loos Need Your Help

Stained Glass Appeal: Public Loos Need Your HelpWe have mentioned previously on VB, the overhaul planned for Ventnor esplanade toilets and have this week been contacted by Rob Turner, the artist involved in the project.

The hope, in order to help make these the ‘greenest’ loos around, is to use recycled stained glass for the roof that Rob as designed and he’s putting a call out to Islanders to donate any unwanted stained glass.

What they are looking for is quality coloured stained glass which hopefully could be melted down and reused in the roof design.

Now, this doesn’t mean old clear glass from broken green houses or old smashed up cucumber frames with moss growing on, so don’t waste your time or theirs by trying to offload glass of this type.

But, if you do have some antique coloured stained glass lurking in the back of the garage or woodshed, please consider donating it to help the cause.

Glory Art GlassMartin Evans at Glory Art Glass (in Sandown) will be taking in the donations at his Melville Street, Sandown premises. If you think you might have something that would be of use, either pop in to see Martin or give him a call on 402515.

The designs are not finalised yet, so the glass won’t be needed immediately, but it’s certainly worth having a hunt around to see if you have anything that could be melted down and reused.

Martin will be happy to return any unused glass, so long as it is packaged up and labelled.
