I saw two great pieces in the CountyPress today, both in the Entertainment section. The first is written by Charlotte Hofton and covers the fantastic row that is surrounding the new sculpture of Jimi Hendrix (by Jon Swindells) at Dimbola Lodge (for the record, I agree with Brian Hinton and think it’s brilliant). If you haven’t read it yet, do take the time. A marvellous read.
The other, was a small piece on page 12 titled Making IW a film mecca.
Cutting to the crux, a film director from Sandown (Bruce Webb) and four others (un-named) have managed to get funding from the UK Film Council for a feasibility study on whether it’s possible to create a film network on the island.
They are looking for actors, extras, cameramen (women too, I’m sure), directors, producers, writers and designers. Not only this but anyone with an interesting house or possible locations for filming should come forward. They’re even looking for scaffolders and helicopter owners – at last I have a use for that grasshopper stuck at the back of the garage!
Apparently in Cornwall they have created a smiliar thing, taking advantage of the wonderful landscapes and calling on local talent. Bruce wants to create the same thing here – so if you like the sound of it, get in touch with him.

Incase you’re wondering, I write email addresses out like this on the blog/forum so it can’t be picked up by spammers. Don’t copy it literally, imagine he’s reading it out to you.
Check out their site for more info.
And yes, I was on the beach yesterday, hence no posts :-)
