Storm Ciarán: Switched from Amber to Yellow warning for strong winds (updated)

The Met Office Amber weather warning for strong winds on the Isle of Wight — associated with Storm Ciarán — has been removed.

The Amber weather warning was originally valid until 5pm today and covering the entire Island, but the Met Office have reduced the area the warning covers, meaning it no longer includes the Island. It now covers a large area from Hastings to Canterbury (and in the west/Cornwall).

Yellow weather warnings
Although the amber weather has been removed, there is still a Yellow weather warning for wind and rain covering the Island which have been shortened to 5pm (Thursday). Follow the links to stay up to date with the warnings.

Fallen trees
Island Roads report a fallen tree in Carters Road, Ryde, which has also brought down power lines. SSE are on site to deal with the issue.

Island Roads say Blackwater Shute now closed between Merstone Lane and Blackwater Hollow.
