Summer Madness: Premises License Granted: Summary

This afternoon the Licensing Sub Committee considered the application for a premises license for the sale or supply of alcohol at the forthcoming Summer Madness gig, being held in Froglands Farm on 30th August.

Summer Madness: Premises License Granted: SummaryFollowing the three hour hour meeting, the thousands of people who have bought tickets will be pleased to hear that the decision was taken to grant the application.

The organisers had already received a permit from the IWC to go ahead with the event and this meeting was purely to decide whether or not to grant the premises license.

Representations were heard from the organisers of the one day event as well as from Police, the local County Councillor and members of the public.

It was clear from the thorough questioning by members of the committee that the organisers had gone through all the correct procedures over the past few months, liaising with the relevant departments of the IWC as well as all the emergency services, South Water and Southern Vectis to ensure that conditions of the IW Act are met and complied with.

The police had requested that two additional conditions are attached to the license, which the organisers have agreed with.

As comments from the councillors and public were raised, it appeared clear that the organisers had taken into account their concerns over lighting, parking, highways, noise, security etc. All being addressed and dealt with alongside the relevant bodies.

Strict Conditions
The permission to grant the license will hold strict conditions ensuring that timings for clearance of the site etc are adhered to. As the promoter stated that they intend to put another event on during the bank holiday in 2010, we imagine that they would do every possible to ensure that all conditions are adhered to. Failure to do so would probably result in a license and permit being refused next year.
