Around a dozen volunteers sold the now iconic hospice sunflower around the festival site and also on board Wightlink’s Fishbourne to Portsmouth services, raising a total approaching £15,000 over the weekend.
As well as collecting on Wightlink boats, the Hospice also worked with the ferry company on a separate competition in which festival goers were asked to take selfies posing with the Hospice’s sunflower emblem.
All selfies were entered into a prize draw and the winner of a VIP upgraded IW Festival ticket was Michaela Earnshaw, while Vicky and Andrew White won a pass enabling them to use posh toilets at the festival.
Hospice chief executive Jo Blackburn said she was delighted with this year’s festival fundraising.
She added:
“We would like to thank all our staff and volunteers who put so much into the collections over festival weekend. The atmosphere throughout the event was fantastic and our team had a lot of fun despite the hard work.
“We were also delighted to receive such great support from the IW Festival organisers Solo as well as from Wightlink. We look forward to working with both organisations in the future as the festival period is a very important part of our fundraising.”
