Officers believe that the occupants of this vehicle may hold vital information to help with their investigation.

On Sunday 15 June, at about 4.20pm, a scooter was travelling along the A3054 Binstead Road, from Ryde to Newport.

Rider died in hospital
It is believed the rider lost control of the scooter and collided with a post at the side of the road. Nobody else was involved in the incident.

Kenneth Mead, 59, from Ryde was taken to St Mary’s Hospital, where he was sadly pronounced dead.

Sgt David Sanderson from the Roads Policing Unit said:

“We are trying to trace the occupants of this grey car, possibly an estate, which was seen driving behind a yellow Mini shortly before the incident.

“Both drivers stopped and helped administer first aid at the scene prior to our officers arriving.

“We believe the occupants of this vehicle are key witnesses and may be able to help with our investigation. If you were the driver or passenger/s travelling in this grey vehicle please call me as soon as possible on 101, quoting Operation Mayfly.”

Officers are carrying out further enquiries and preparing a file for the coroner.
