Last year the council revealed the decision to invest £3m to bring super-fast broadband to the more rural areas of the Island.
The investment is due to be match funded by the Government, but only if the council can show there is sufficient demand for the service.
As you may remember, BT have already said that they would be bringing super-fast broadband to major towns on the Island, Cowes, Ryde, Newport and Ventnor.
The council’s contribution will seek to bring the technology to the more rural areas of the Island.
Another appeal for support out today
Another call from the council today for residents and businesses to sign up reveals that perhaps they haven’t had the level of support required yet.
If you’re keen to see super-fast broadband in rural areas of the Island, make sure you take a moment to complete the survey.
It’s argued that this move could help to attract high-tech companies to relocate to the Island, leading to growth in jobs and the economy.
Registering your interest is very quick and simply requires you to state whether you’re a resident or business and your postcode. You can then choose to take a more detailed survey to help the council understand your needs.
Take part in the survey.
