Those showing their support for Shanklin Theatre continues to grow with the Friends of Shanklin Theatre telling us that over 500 letters of support have been received so far.
As the gallery shows below, the Isle of Wight Society for the Blind, The IW Steam Railway, Cockernuts Family Fun and the Fire Service all took time out to be photographed with the Save Shanklin Theatre Banner as the theatre counts down to the council decision on whether the historic venue will be kept open.
Barrie James of Shanklin Theatre Friends, said: “So many thousands of people – whether islanders or holidaymakers – have had wonderful entertainment at Shanklin Theatre over the years, and this, and the support of so many people today, gives us hope that councillors will decide to give the theatre a new lease of life.
“We strongly believe that, with the backing of the council and the community as a whole, the theatre can survive and thrive into the future.
“We want to make this the biggest round of applause the theatre has ever had,”
