Sixteen-year-old sailor Tate Kump will take on a major challenge on Saturday 30th August, when he sets out to sail solo and non-stop around the Isle of Wight in his ILCA dinghy.
The 60-plus mile journey could take between 12 and 14 hours, depending on weather and tides. Tate will sail alone in his small dinghy, facing both physical and mental demands.
Raising funds for Cancer Research
Tate has already raised more than £7,000 for Cancer Research and hopes to increase that figure with further donations.
He explained his motivation clearly, saying,
“Many of my friends and family have been affected by cancer, and I wanted to do something that would make a real difference.”
