Remember the story about the teenage sailor, Nestor, who filmed his first Round the Island Race? Well, Nestor is planning another round the Island challenge, this time sailing solo in a Laser Dinghy.
In just a few days, Nestor will be sailing 55 nautical miles around the Isle of Wight to raise money for the RNLI and Sea Shepherd conservation society.
Two vital charities
Nestor explains why he has chosen these two charities to support,
“The RNLI provide, on call, 24-hour lifeboat search and rescue service at 238 locations around UK and Ireland. 95% of their workers are volunteers, and they allow us to enjoy the sea safely which is hugely important for people like me!
“The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society protect marine protected areas from overfishing all over the world, which means no matter where you are, they are helping you. Keeping our seas healthy is something everyone should care about and it is of increasing importance as fish populations decline.”
Depending on the tides and weather conditions, Nestor will attempt the challenge on either Sunday 28th or Monday 29th July.

Nestor is looking to raise £2,000 which will be split equally between the two charities. At the time of publishing he’d only secured £120, so anything you can add to the pot will no doubt, be greatly appreciated.
