Budding photographers, Sophie, Simon and Will have all been announced as winners of the 2014 Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week Photography Competition that challenged entrants to capture the ‘spirit of the regatta’
In the year that sees the 200th anniversary of the birth of renowned Victorian photographer Julia Margaret Cameron, Dimbola Museum and Gallery at Freshwater (her home from 1860-1875) is mounting a year-long commemoration of her life and work.
Something as phenomenal as the weasel taking a ride on a woodpecker was bound to be followed by an influx of memes and Justin Mason made sure the Isle of Wight was represented.
Zoe Barker's award-winning 'House of Two Sisters' project is a vintage fan's dream. It's gained nation-wide attention, but also lots of chatter within the Island's Heritage Facebook Group.
See what we did there? Score ... £20 note ... yes, don't worry we won't give up the day jobs, but we will encourage you to vote for Victorian photographer Julia Margaret Cameron as the next face for the £20 note.
All are welcome to the Exhibition Preview on Friday 17th July to meet Julian and Steve as well as some of the subject of the exhibition (including yours truly). If you can't make it along, the exhibition runs until 4th October 2015.
Dimbola Museum and Galleries have an exhibition at the moment that showcases a selection of contemporary cultural talent on the Isle of Wight. It's well worth a look.
