Regular readers of VentnorBlog will know all about the Invent Theatre Group, a community youth theatre group, which was established at the end of last year.
In a couple of weeks time, the group, which meets every Sunday at Ventnor Middle School will be performing their first production at Shanklin Theatre.
The Asphodel Fields, written by Ventnorian, Jack Whitewood is a story of imagination, self discovery and confused memories (read a synposis of the play).
You might recognise Jack’s name from a previous production that was performed at Medina Theatre , The Bench in the Park.
We were stunned by the clear talent of all those involved in the production, not least Jack, who wrote and directed the play. With The Bench in the Park, he set the bar high, but we’re sure that this new production will not disappoint. He clearly has a great future in writing.
The production is for one night only and we’re sorry to hear that at the moment, not many tickets have sold.
In order to just cover the cost of the theatre hire, the group, a non to profit community organisation, will need to sell at least 200 tickets. The capacity is 500, so please, please, please tell all your friends and relatives about this play and make sure you help support the great work that Jack and his team have been doing for 10-18 years olds on the Wight, who have an interest in learning about theatre (both on stage and back stage) and script writing.
Tickets are £7.50 or £6 concessions. You can book your tickets online or call the box office on (01983) 868000.
And if you have a 10-18 year old who wants to get involved, point them in the direction of the Invent Theatre Group website to learn more about how they can get join the group.
