‘The People’s Republic of the Isle of Wight’: Award-winning comedy returns for a special performance

Joe Plumb’s hilarious show about Isle of Wight Independence took Ventnor Fringe by storm last summer and scooped up the Audience Choice Award.

He’s bringing the show back for one special performance at Bar 74 in Ryde on 19th February.

For too long, Westminster has made decisions that old, white, right-wing, male Islanders should be deciding. We need to take back control of the Isle of Wight from tyranny of English rule! Joe Plumb will stop at nothing until the islanders have taken back control and he is made King!

An exhilaratingly daft production
This exhilaratingly daft production combines cabaret, interactive theatre, music, and comedy to confront the hypocrisies in localism and our complex quest for identity.

You thought Brexit was mad? Island Independence has more lies, more red tape, more self-destructive economical disasters, and more confetti!

Plumb: What could possibly go wrong?
Joe Plumb, Artistic Director of Horse Box Theatre Company says,

“It is great to be bringing this show back to Bar 74 after a nationwide (well, Islandwide) tour last summer. Bar 74 is a fabulous venue that supports and showcases the best of cabaret, drag, comedy and so much more.

“I cannot wait to get back on the stage and convert more Islanders to the cause for the Independence! The Island’s future is in the Island’s hands… what could possibly go wrong?!”

Bigger, ever better and even more Isle of Wight
Featuring special guests including the Island’s top Drag Queen, Fanny Quivers, this show promises to be even bigger, ever better and even more Isle of Wight!
