The perfect recipe for a Christmas song to SingAbout

Hannah shares this latest news from the Island charity, Independent Arts. Ed

Take over 400 SingAbout singers from across the Isle of Wight, King of Christmas songs (local musician Jason Paine), add a catchy chorus and a sprinkling of happy memories, mix together with a dedicated team of practitioners and volunteers and Independent Arts have produced a Christmas song sure to warm your heart.

SingAbout groups
Five years ago Independent Arts set up three SingAbout groups to help boost health and wellbeing as well as providing a community atmosphere to help combat social isolation among older people on the Isle of Wight.

Five years down the line there are ten SingAbout groups plus dedicated groups for Singing for Breathing and Recovery (based at St Mary’s hospital) and more than four hundred people a week singing with SingAbout.

The benefits of singing
The song aims to highlight the benefits of Singing for Wellbeing and build awareness of social isolation in older people on the Isle of Wight and within all our communities as well as showcasing the work of the SingAbout Groups.

SingAbout Project Manager Hannah Griffiths said,

“We are so please to be able to give our SingAbout participants the opportunity to be part of something as exciting as recording a Christmas Song.

“All the groups have been working hard to practicing and the result is a real credit to them.”
