CCTV of the double theft of the charity collection box at Ryde Aspire have been released on social media.
Aspire is a fantastic community charity in Ryde that helps anyone in need, offering food, advice and many other services.
Double theft of collection box
Sadly their coin collection box – which is chained up outside the church – has been stolen twice in the last couple of weeks. After watching CCTV, they believe it was the same person.
Heath Monaghan said,
“In helping himself, rather than us helping those who are homeless, hungry and generally anyone needy, this person thought his need was greater than our charity’s need.
“He helped himself to our coin collection box, emptied every day so at most he got a pound or two!”
Previous burglary
In May this year, the organisation was subject to a break-in, when the till, cash box, laptops and more were stolen.
“We should be selfless”
Heath finished by saying,
“I’m very disappointed with his actions. We should be selfless, not selfish, then our community would be a very different place.”
The CCTV
The first CCTV captured on 5th November shows the thief taking a while to work out how to remove the collection box
In the video captured on 15th November, he’s in and out in seconds.
Having returned knowing there’d only be a few coins inside, he must be desperate for the money.
