Three Christmas Babies On The Isle of Wight

Congratulations to the families of the three ‘bundles of joy’ who arrived on the Isle of Wight in time for Christmas 2011.

three knitted babiesThe first was born at home in Newport and the other two were born at St. Mary’s Hospital, Newport, Isle of Wight.

First to arrive at 00:36hrs in the morning on 25th December was Holly Olivia Tharle, a daughter for Michelle Coleman and Nick Tharle of Newport. Holly was born at home and weighed in at 6lb 8ozs (2.96kgs).

Two hospital births
Next to arrive at 10:05hrs, and the first of two babies to be born at St. Mary’s Hospital was Joshua James De Jong, a son for Natali and Marten De Jong, of Cowes Joshua weighed in at 9lb 7oz (4.291kgs).

Finally, at 10:58hrs Dawson John Sonny Cook, a boy for Sarah Middleton and Lee Cook of Shanklin. Dawson weighed in at 8lb 6oz (3.810kgs).

Former midwife and Chief Operating Officer for NHS Isle of Wight, Karen Baker said: “Congratulations to all three sets of parents on their new arrivals. I know from having worked as a midwife that Christmas is a special time in the Maternity Unit. I am grateful to all the staff who agreed to work on Christmas Day and across the Christmas period.”
