Three Men Arrested Over Suspected Burglary In Freshwater

Thanks to the many VB readers who got in touch yesterday reporting police activity in Freshwater, we contacted the Police yesterday afternoon for more detail. We have just now received the following information. In their own words. Ed

HandcuffsPolice can confirm they are investigating a report of a burglary in Freshwater on the Isle of Wight at around 1.30pm on Tuesday, July 19, 2011.

Officers responded to reports of men acting suspiciously near a derelict building in the Colwell Road area.

A 21-year-old man from East Cowes, Isle of Wight and a 17-year-old youth from Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire were both arrested in Freshwater at 1.57pm on suspicion of burglary.

They were taken to Newport Police Station for questioning and later bailed until August 25, 2011 pending further enquiries.

Police continued an air and land search of the area for other possible suspects.

A 27-year-old man from Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire was arrested in Freshwater at 4.20pm on suspicion of burglary.

He was taken to Newport Police Station for questioning and later bailed until August 25, 2011 pending further enquiries.
