Isle of Wight Ramblers is delighted to see the planned reopening of the coast path between Totland and Colwell on 13 September following the landslide in 2012.

The campaign to persuade the Council to allocate funding for the Totland seawall path project was a success for the community who arranged a petition with over 4,000 signatures.

The Ramblers was pleased to support this campaign and President Kate Ashbrook visited the site in August 2014.

A red-letter day
Says Kate Ashbrook, Ramblers’ President:

“This is a red-letter day. I am delighted that this vital coast path is now opening again, to be enjoyed by residents and visitors. It will be good for local businesses and the Island’s economy.

“I congratulate all who have campaigned so vigorously for this splendid outcome.”

Kate will be joining a celebratory community walk and opening event that is taking place on Sunday 13 September at 1.45pm starting at The Waterfront pub and restaurant, Totland Bay.

Article edit
Headline and excerpt amended slightly to reflect the president would not be officially opening the path, just joining in with celebratory walk.
