Tragic twist of fate leads to sad loss of Isle of Wight teenager

The nightmare for 18 year old Kieron Flux’s family started at the beginning of this year when he went missing during a skiing holiday in Gorges de la Daille, Val d’Isère, France.

Tragically, the Isle of Wight teenage’s body was found on 7th January following a helicopter search of the area. The teenager, who had been training to become a plumber, died of hypothermia.

Coroner’s verdict
Caroline Sumeray, the Isle of Wight Coroner, explained this week that after a night out, Kieron took a shuttle bus back to his accommodation, but got off at the wrong end of town.

She said,

“He was disorientated and wasn’t dressed warmly and subsequently got lost in the snow and developed hypothermia and died.”

Kieron’s Mum, Di Haines, was also told by the Coroner that some of her son’s organs had been kept by the French authorities and she would be asking the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to investigate.

“Losing Kieron left a massive hole in our lives”
In a heartfelt post on Facebook last night, Di said,

“Finding out that the French have taken parts of our boy, is just truly heartbreaking, and we will be looking more into this.

“Losing Kieron has left a massive hole in our lives, we only get up in the mornings to keep his memory alive.”

Our sincerest thoughts go out to Kieron’s family and friends.
