For those of you to have to travel to or from London over the next few days be aware that it’s going to start to get messy from today.
As any of you who have to do that journey over the previous weeks will be pained to know, there’s been engineering works carried out on the line and they’ve run over considerably – frankly, it’s been a big ol’ mess for a long time.
In the coming five days there’s going to be different disruptions daily. Wednesday is the lightest day with the train only running as far as Fratton. Between there and the harbour will require a bus ride taking up to 30 mins they say. Then it starts getting complex.
After 20:46 the south-bound train will stop at Havant, so a bus ride of about 45 mins will be needed. 20:50 onwards trains stop at Petersfield, with what looks like an hours bus to follow.
Got that?
Thursday and Friday are similar to late Wednesday until 23:00 when it gets even worse – trains stopping at Haslemere, replace with an hour and a half bus ride.
Saturday resets to Petersfield and Sunday back to Haslemere.
Phew! Here’s the reality – it’s going to be really messy and given the changeability of it, it will be best to check with SW Trains to confirm details.
The theory with all of this is that’s there’s a final dose of pain that will put everything back to ‘normal’, giving residents of Portsmouth and beyond the service that we had before all of this stuff started – so you have to ask yourself, has it been worth it?
