Transformation underway at Albion Hotel: Spa extension and solar panel plans revealed

The new owners of an Isle of Wight hotel, which is currently undergoing a multi-million-pound refurbishment, have unveiled details about its proposed new spa.

The Albion Hotel, in Freshwater Bay, has been bought by Surrey-based A2K Leisure which is looking to improve and rejuvenate the building.

A spa building
A spa building would be built on part of the hotel’s car park and link to the current swimming pool building.

It would have a studio space, six treatment rooms, a courtyard area, a covered walkway and a water feature.

The hotel would also have a sauna and jacuzzi.

A sympathetic extension
Modh Design, the planning agents on behalf of the hotel, say the extension would be sympathetic, rather than an after-thought add-on.

At the moment, the car park is owned by the hotel, but non-residents can pay to park there. As part of the changes, spaces will be for the use of hotel guests and spa users only.

Extra jobs
The company say the spa would create additional employment opportunities, along with jobs at the hotel.

Solar panels are proposed to be installed on the main building.
