Quay Arts will be opening their doors this Sunday evening for a musical medley.
In honour of Joyce Grenfell’s centenary year Quay Arts will be hosting ‘Turn Back the Clock’, performed by Cheryl Knight, a comedy revue featuring some of Joyce’s most delicate and poignant pieces accompanied by the pianoforte.
This gem of nostalgia from the golden age of revue is suitable for all ages – older audiences will enjoy the evocation of one of the greatest female entertainers of the twentieth century while fresh faces will tune into the current trend for vintage revival.
“Poignant for audiences of any age”
Following sell-out performances in Edinburgh and London, The Telegraph reviewed this piece as “”¦a celebration of the wit and wisdom of Joyce Grenfell, weaving her songs and monologues with the help of a nice pianist, a French pleat, a pearl necklace and a lovely taffeta skirt.”
Quay Arts Director, Jo Cowan, says “We are delighted to have been able to secure a date for the show. Nostalgia events have been really popular in the past and the joy of Joyce’s humour and clever monologues are that they still very funny and poignant for audiences of any age.”
Turn Back the Clock on 27th November at the 6pm. Doors open at 5pm. Tickets are £11 (or £10 for Friends and Members)
