Turning the tide on e-waste: Join the Isle of Wight Repair Cafe

Last updated:

Taking part in the bank holiday ritual of a visit to the waste recycling centre at Lynnbottom yesterday, we were surprised to see so many electronics being dumped.

There were all manner of electric/electronic equipment being discarded that will end up in landfill rather than being donated to a charity, or repaired so they can continued to be used.

Repair Cafe
The Isle of Wight Repair Cafe hold sessions once a month at Quay Arts, where you can take along items to be repaired and then reused.

They have a bunch of expert repairers who can help repair electrical items such as lamps, coffee machines and radios, as well as bicycles, clothing, textiles, and electronic items like laptop computers or games consoles.

Book your slot
The next Repair Cafe takes place on Saturday 10th June between 10am and 12.30pm.

You’ll need to book a slot in advance if you want to take something along, which you can do through the Eventbrite Website.
