Two Receive Injuries In Newport Bus and Car Collision

Thanks to the VB readers who got in touch this morning about a road traffic incident in Newport.

Police TapeIt seems there was an incident involving a Southern Vectis bus and a car this morning which has resulted in traffic delays and bus diversions.

The incident occurred just after 5am when the bus and car collided at the High Street junction with Lower St James Street. The bus has caused damage to the former Joules shop and neighbouring building.

Bus diversions
Southern Vectis report diversions for route 7 buses which is being diverted via Cedar Hill and Whitepit Lane and route 1 buses are diverted via Hunnycross Way, Riverway and Medina Way until further notice.

This is the same point at which a police car collided with another vehicle back in November last year (2011).

IWR report that two people received injuries. We wish them both a speedy recovery.
