A festival to celebrate the legacy of legendary Isle of Wight innovator and boat designer, Uffa Fox, begins on Thursday (18th) this week in Cowes and East Cowes.
The festival marks the 50th anniversary of the death of Uffa, the father of the planing dinghy.
A whopping twelve organisations in Cowes and East Cowes have joined forces for UF50 – a celebration of Uffa Fox’s life and legacy.
Sailing regatta
The focal point will be Cowes Parade where there will be a display of around 50 dinghies designed by Uffa Fox, a number of which go back to the 1920s, with some out racing for the sailing regatta on the Friday and Saturday.
There will also be an exciting Uffa Fox Trail, showcasing different venues and events for families, with plenty of activities for kids at the Commodore’s House.
