Thanks to Lori for sharing details of the latest Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Award scheme being held at UKSA. Ed
Are you just sitting on a sofa watching life pass you by? Well, now is the time to jump up and do something about it. UKSA is looking for new recruits for the Cowes Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Award as the current group have completed their programme.
Adventure from beginning to end
The DofE Award is a real adventure from beginning to end and it doesn’t matter who you are or where you’re from.
Participants simply need to be aged between 14 and 24 and be up for a challenge. The programme is delivered at UKSA in Cowes every Wednesday between 6pm and 8pm (term time only). You might find yourself helping others or the community, getting fitter, developing skills and going on an expedition.
Life-changing experiences
Along the way you will pick up experiences, friends and talents that will stay with you for the rest of their life. It will also look great on your CV.
Participants will achieve an Award by completing a personal programme of activities in four sections:
- Volunteering: helping someone, your community or the environment
- Physical: becoming fitter through sport, dance or fitness activities
- Skills: developing existing talents or trying something new
- Expedition: planning, training for and completing an adventurous journey
Take it further
Further awards can be gained through first aid, kayaking/canoeing and sailing to name a few. Additional time will be required to participate in practice and qualifying expeditions (on average, one weekend per term) which will take place on the Island and in the New Forest.
Costs are kept to a minimum through UKSA – we can discuss this with you.
