The Isle of Wight council tell residents in the landlocked section of Undercliff Drive that work will start this week “on a range of activities in readiness for the construction phase”.
A letter to the residents explains the works starts with vegetation being cleared to allow construction of the western turning head and establishment of site offices.
In addition, site meetings are due to take place between Island Roads and council officers to determine which trees which may impose constraints on the works.
Carriageway works over the summer
Work won’t start on reinstating the carriageway from Niton until late July and August, with work taking place to complete the turning heads and pedestrian section in September.
All works are expected to be complete by the end of the first week in October.
