Unlocking the potential of accessible and inclusive tourism

Thanks to Jan for sharing details of this upcoming event. Ed

Isle Access is a new, community interest company, set up to encourage, support, and offer training to businesses and service providers, to improve accessibility for everyone on the Island.

Other coastal resorts, rural destinations and cities are now promoting themselves as accessible destinations, appealing to the 11 million people in the UK that have disabilities, as well as young families and older people.

Benefitting residents and visitors
As well as the possibility of attracting more tourists, any improvements in accessibility and inclusive practices will benefit Island residents and businesses. Opportunities will also arise to develop new businesses.

To launch this new organisation, Isle Access is holding a one day workshop to explore what accessibility and inclusive environments mean from different perspectives.

As well as access experts, the workshop includes the views of people with access needs and how a business recognises the benefits in improving their customer service to accommodate everyone.

Where and when
The workshop is being held at Ryde Castle Hotel on 1st March and is open to residents, businesses and service providers.

Tickets cost £5 and can be booked through Eventbrite.

Isle Access has the backing of Visit IOW and Visit England. Following the workshop, it is anticipated that there will be ongoing projects involving key stakeholders to progress this project.
