This morning a Southern Vectis bus had to be taken out of service after a pile of poo was found on the top floor in the footwell of the front seats.
The Number 3, on its journey from Newport to Ryde, stopped in Rookley after one of the passengers found the unwanted surprise.
“Unpleasant smell”
They told OnTheWight that, when boarding the bus at Newport, there was an unpleasant smell on the top floor.
Only when the bus first stopped, in Rookley, was one of two people on the top deck able to report it to the driver.
If you’re eating your dinner, you might want to look away now.
What was discovered was what was described as “a substantial pile of poo”. Industrial blue paper tissue had been placed around it, the passenger speculated, perhaps in an attempt to disguise it.
Bus taken out of service
Once reported to the driver, Southern Vectis sent another bus out to replace it, enabling the soiled bus to return to the depot for cleansing.
Rather modestly – and probably understandably – Southern Vectis described it in a Tweet as
<GSA> Your 10:45 Route 3 Rookley/Ventnor/Ryde delayed @ Rookley. A passenger has soiled themselves on the upper deck. Replacement bus on way
