News OnTheWight shares a comprehensive update on deaths, hospitalisations, vaccinations and positives Covid-19 tests on the Isle of Wight.
The figures are provided by NHS England and the Office for National Statistics and rely on people testing positive to report their results.

Deaths
The Office for National Statistics report one new death took place at the hospital during week 24 (deaths that occurred up to 17th June 2022, but were registered up to 25th June 2022).
As of 17th June, the cumulative number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate on the Isle of Wight was 437 – a rise of 1 in the last week.
As of 30th June 2022, the Government Dashboard records the total number of deaths within 28 days of a positive test was 402 – a rise of 1 in the last week.
Covid patients in hospital
The Covid dashboard shows that as of 28th June the number of Covid-19 patients in hospital was 11 – a rise of 1 in the last week.
The Government dashboard also reports that none of those Covid patients are relying on mechanical ventilation.
Vaccinations
The number of Covid-19 vaccinations given on the Isle of Wight totals 314,783 (314,680 last week).
The total number of people who have received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine, reported up to 23rd June 2022 was 113,712 (113,696 last week).
The total number of people who have received the second dose of Covid-19 vaccine, reported up to 23rd June 2022 was 108,982 (108,945 last week).
The total number of people who have received a booster or third dose of Covid-19 vaccine, reported up to 23rd June 2022 was 92,089 (92,039 last week).
Confirmed positive cases
The latest confirmed data for the number of new positive Coronavirus (Covid-19) tests over seven days (23rd-29th June) on the Isle of Wight totals 591 – a rate per 100,000 population of 419.15.
114 (71 last week) of those are thought to be reinfections (ie. people who have had Covid before and caught it again).
The cumulative total since the pandemic began now stands at 41,868 (a rise of 525 in the last week) – a rate per 100,000 population of 29,693.62.
Age breakdown
The table below shows the breakdown of positive Covid-19 tests over the last week for under 20s, 20-59 year olds and 60+ compared to the previous week.
